Happy World Teacher’s Day!

We’re sure that all you educators out there will realise that today is World Teacher’s Day, a global celebration that takes place every 5th of October. The event has been running since 1994 to commemorate the signing of the 1966 Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers, which ensures that conditions surrounding employment, recruitment and working conditions are globally upheld.

On the lighter side, World Teacher’s Day is the perfect opportunity to share insight into why you love your profession. To get you started, below are some of our top reasons why being a teacher is the best job in the world.

No two days are alike

Multiple factors that include wide-ranging topics, new students each year and the inherent curiosity of youth make for a very interesting working day. Thanks to there always being a new theme to delve into and questions to answer, you’ll never have two days that are the same.

You learn as well as teach

Even if you’re a master of your subject, there’s always something new to learn. This could be updated areas of the curriculum, developing different ways to make activities accessible, or fresh perspectives offered by your students. If you’re dedicated to a life of learning, being a teacher is definitely the right career for you.

Excellent job security

Unlike many other types of jobs, technology won’t replace teachers. What’s more, as long as there are children, there will always be a need for educators. Put simply, it’s an essential role that’s always in demand and helps to shape the next generation.

Collaboration mixed with independence

Teachers get to work with children, fellow educators, other staff members, parents, governors and the local community. Meanwhile, you’re in charge of your own learning environment and can experiment with methods that make subject matter easy to understand. It’s a win-win situation!

You make an enormous difference

Everyone remembers that special teacher who helped them to advance their skills, express thoughts and feelings, explore a passion and decide on their future career path. You can be that teacher for countless young people, so do everything you can to give them the best start in life.
