Our aim, quite simply is to do the very best for children and recognise their individuality and uniqueness. Childhood is a very special and wonderful time and no one gets a second chance at it. We are very conscious that education is a partnership. We believe children are happiest and learn more effectively when there is a strong partnership between home and school. We also wish to strengthen our links with our parish and local community. It is a one form entry primary school in the Education Leeds authority. The school has approximately 242 pupils aged between three and eleven, with only 8 pupils currently eligible for free school meals. St Philip’s Avenue, Middleton, Leeds LS10 3SL

St Philip’s Catholic Primary and Nursery School is situated in Middleton in the inner south of the city of Leeds. Our strap line is, ‘Where Everyone is Valued and Learning is Celebrated,’ which reflects the pride we feel in relationships (at all levels and between all those involved) which are a strength of our school.

Our greatest assets are our children whose behaviour is constantly praised as outstanding and our whole staff team who are simply wonderful and recognise that their work is our mission. At section 48 (RE Inspection) we are outstanding in all aspects and at Section 5 (OFSTED), good in all aspects and outstanding for behaviour and safety.

We constantly remind our children that they are unique and gifted individuals, unconditionally loved by God – our role is to help each and every one recognise and develop their gifts and do their absolute best to achieve as highly as possible. More than this, we want them to grow into caring, concerned and connected young people.

In recent years our context has changed and we now are blessed with having about half of our children who are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds with the greatest majority speaking English as an additional language. These children, along with all our British children, are a part of a warm, welcome and vibrant community where you will be made to feel very welcome.

St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School
Barwick Road, Crossgates, Leeds LS15 8RQ

St Theresa’s is a very large Catholic primary school situated in East Leeds. It is ideally located for the M1 link road and the main A64 Ring Road. Barwick Road leads to Scholes and Barwick-in-Elmet. The school serves a very mixed residential catchment area (Leeds 14 and Leeds 15) and has about 84% Catholic pupils. There are approximately 420 pupils in the main school and these are spread over 14 classes from F2 to Y6. There is also a very large nursery attached to the school and 91 children are educated here every day. The staff team has over 70 members. Despite the size and scale of the staff, there is a good team spirit and relationships are very good. Our children are delightful and work very hard and we encourage them to follow the school motto: “Walking in Theresa’s Little Way” which we interpret as doing the simple things well and trying to ‘do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.’

Our school is divided up into two main sections; the lower school which comprises; Nursery, Foundation 2 and KS1 and the upper school which is KS2. There is a Deputy Headteacher for each phase and a phase deputy to support them. We also have an Inclusion Manager who looks after our SEND pupils. This system works really well for us and staff work in phase teams as well as a whole staff. We have also arranged for year group partners to have PPA together whenever possible. Our school based tutors are all vastly experienced and worked with both ITT students from Leeds Trinity and with GTP and School Direct students in the recent past.

The school has an excellent reputation locally and has been re-awarded the Inclusion Chartermark in 2009, the National and Advanced Healthy Schools’ Awards and the Activemark; St Theresa’s also has a growing reputation for excellence in a range of sports. The school has also been awarded the Stephen Lawrence Educational Standard at Level 1 and Level 2 and ArtsMark. We have also been awarded Investor in People status on three occasions. The school is very committed to ongoing, realistic and career enhancing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The school was last inspected by OFSTED in January 2012 and the school was judged ‘good’ in all areas. The Section 48 Inspection in February 2012 described the school as an outstanding Catholic school.

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School
Swires Road, Halifax, Leeds HX1 2ER

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School has been in existence since 1846, making it one of the oldest educational institutions in the Diocese of Leeds and the Halifax area. We are proud of our Catholic heritage and consider this to be central to all we try to achieve with our pupils.

We want all our pupils to reach their full potential in every way, but we especially want them to know that God loves each of them as unique and special individuals. In partnership with parents, carers, parishioners and external agencies we know we can achieve these objectives.

Robin Hood Primary School
Leeds Road, Robin Hood, Wakefield WF3 3BG

Robin Hood Primary School is an outstanding School located in the South of Leeds within the Rothwell family of schools. The vast majority of pupils are from within a tight catchment area but some specially funded children do come from further afield. The school caters for children from 3-11 and is at present expanding from one and a half form entry to two form entry. At Robin Hood we have a strong belief that success is a journey, not a destination and that to have sky high aspirations for ourselves and our learners, we must always be striving to be better than we are… all of the time. There is an embedded ethos of reflection and improvement, which is necessary to make strides forward and build on our outstanding standards.

Excellence is achieved through the delivery of an inclusive curriculum, taught in a modern, well-resourced and stimulating environment by passionate, gifted and highly committed teachers and staff.

Our curriculum prepares children for the 21st Century and is relevant, immersive, engaging and allows every child to make very good progress.
We aim not only for academic excellence but also for our children to be keen, effective, confident independent and collaborative learners, who will be well prepared for success in adulthood.

We believe in giving children opportunities to realise their talents and passions, whatever they are and to nurture these through broad and balanced learning and extra-curricular activities.

We do not impose glass ceilings on children’s learning and we see every child, not for what they are but what they CAN be.

We work closely in partnership with parents to ensure that our pupils’ chances of succeeding are maximised. We have an honest, open and collaborative approach to this partnership based on trust and a genuine concern that we all want what is best for each and every child…… the children always come first.
